Terms of use
Last updated October 17, 2026
In short: learn freely and teach your own classes. Do not copy, scrape or redistribute the course, its answers or its code. Paid plans renew until you cancel, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period. The AI tutor helps, but it can be wrong.
01Who we are
Code Literacy is a course and teaching tool made by webfaCeMEdia. In these terms, “we” and “us” means 1001613716 Ontario Inc., operating as webfaCeMEdia · 57 Finch Ave West, Toronto, ON M2N 0K9. “You” means the person using the course, or the school, college, library or other organization that set it up for its learners.
By using codeliteracy.ca or a copy of the course in a learning management system, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
02Your licence to use the course
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the course for your own learning, for as long as we offer it.
Teachers and institutions may use it with their learners in the way their plan allows: a teacher with their own classrooms, and an institution with the learners, classrooms and learning management systems covered by its agreement with us.
The course is ours. The curriculum, lessons, activities, answers and solutions, the catalogue of misconceptions and tutor corrections, the tutor voices and recordings, the software and the Code Literacy name and marks belong to webfaCeMEdia or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Code Literacy™ is a trademark of webfaCeMEdia. Using the course does not give you any ownership of it.
03What is not allowed
You may not, and may not help anyone else to:
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, reproduce, republish, sell or redistribute the curriculum, lesson content, answers or solutions, or the misconception catalogue;
- copy or reuse the tutor voice recordings, or the software and its code, beyond what your browser needs to run the course;
- access the course or its interfaces by automated means (bots, crawlers, scripts or AI agents), except search engines indexing public pages under our robots rules;
- use the course or its content to build or train a competing course, product or AI model;
- get around the account wall, usage limits or plan limits, or share an account so others can avoid them;
- interfere with the service, probe it for weaknesses, or use it to harm anyone.
Short quotes for review, criticism or teaching your own class are fine. If you want to do more, ask us at support@webfacemedia.com.
04Accounts
Learners on their own. Units 0 and 1 and every placement check are open without an account. Every other lesson is free with a learner account: you sign in with your email and a 6-digit code we send you. There is no password. Keep access to your email account; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
Learners in a class or an LMS.Learners who join a classroom with its code and a first name, or who open the course from their institution’s learning management system, do not need an account. Their teacher or institution manages access. SCORM packages are issued to one institution and may not be shared.
Teachers. Teacher accounts use an email and password. You are responsible for what happens in your classrooms and for keeping your password safe.
Give accurate details, one account per person. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
05Plans, billing and cancelling
The course is free for learners on their own and for one small classroom. Paid teacher plans and their prices are on the pricing page. Institutions buy under a separate quote or agreement, which applies alongside these terms.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Prices are in Canadian dollars and taxes are added where they apply.
- Paid plans can start with a 14-day free trial, one per teacher. If you have not added a card when it ends, your account returns to the free plan.
- You can cancel any time from the billing page. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for; until then you keep the plan.
- Included AI tutoring is an estimate in learner-sessions and resets each period. Top-ups are for the period they are bought in.
- We may change prices for future periods. We will tell paying teachers before a change reaches their next renewal.
If you think you were charged by mistake, write to support@webfacemedia.com and we will look into it.
06The AI tutor
The tutor, the grading of spoken and typed explanations and some tutor voices are produced with AI models. They are there to help people learn. They can be wrong, incomplete or unclear, and they are not professional advice. Check important things for yourself, and ask your teacher when something does not make sense.
Do not put personal or sensitive information into explanations, code or questions. What you type or say in an activity is sent to the AI service that answers it.
Daily and monthly limits on AI use apply. When a limit is reached, the course keeps working with its built-in feedback.
07Your work
The code and explanations you write stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them to run the course for you and your teacher, to grade and give feedback, and to keep the course working well. Certificates and share cards show only what is printed on them, and you choose whether to share them.
08Changes and availability
We improve the course all the time, so lessons, features and these terms can change. If a change to these terms matters, we will post it here with a new date, and tell paying teachers by email. We aim to keep the course available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors.
09Limits of liability
The course is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties not written in these terms, including fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim about the course is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CA$100 if you paid nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be limited by agreement.
10Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.
